Our Director

Eric Hoffman has been a church musician for over twenty years.
He  has served on the boards of the Hartford Chapter, American Guild of Organists; Hartt School Chapter of The American Choral Directors Association, The Main Street Singers and Daly Council 12 Knights of Columbus. He also is a regionally adjudicator for instrumental and vocal competitions and is in demand as a rehearsal accompanist.

Eric has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles including The New York Festival Orchestra; Lion's Club International Concert Band; Bristol Symphony (CT); The West Hartford Symphony (CT); and has prepared the New Britain Chorale. He has played the organs of Saint Patrick Cathedral (NYC), Saint Thomas Church (NYC), West Point Cadet Chapel (NY), All Saints Church (NY), and St. Joseph Cathedral (CT) among others.

Eric holds degrees from The Hartt School of Music. He was awarded the school's tuition scholarship in music performance in 1995. He is a choral conductor, organist, composer, arranger, instructor, clarinetist, and a lifetime member of Phi Alpha Sinfonia, National Pastoral Musicians Association, Knights of Columbus, and The American Federation of Musicians.


Eric has been Music Director and Organist at Saint Jerome since 2000.

C H O I R

The Saint Jerome Parish Choir is always seeking new members.  The choir sings each Sunday Mass from September to Pentecost Sunday, which usually falls in the late part of May. Other liturgies that call for the choir are Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, First Holy Communion, and other liturgical celebrations.

Opportunities – For enthusiastic singers who love sacred music.

Who – Ages 14 to 100 +

When & Where – Thursday evening rehearsals 7:00 – 8:15 

                             Sunday Morning Mass 11:00 • September – May

M I S S I O N

The choir aims to support, lead, and enhance the singing of the assembly and to provide a variety of choral music, appropriate to the liturgy, respecting the traditions of the Catholic Church. 

Members have the opportunity to extend their musical literacy while enriching their spiritual and personal lives through music.

Presently, we have two outstanding singers; Marietta and Jim.
Their responsibility is to lead the congregation in song, and to proclaim the Responsorial Psalm and various acclamations.  Cantors are scheduled for all weekend Masses and are blended in with the Choir at times. Opportunities are open to sing for Weddings, Funerals and other parish events sacred and secular.   
This is a paid position. Auditions are required.

Are you interested in playing your instrument with us for special liturgies...Christmas, Easter and maybe more? 

We want to hear from you! 

Auditions on  your instrument will be required. 

Please consider this a voluntary offering if you are a member of the parish. This can be an excellent opportunity for Confirmation students to use as a Service Project. Develop your performing skills while also worshiping in a new way. Opportunities are open to play for Weddings and other parish events sacred and secular.

Recorded music of any kind is not permitted inside the Church.

In accordance with the agreement between the Parish and the Director of Music, all visiting musicians are expected to respect the polices of the Director of Music.
