St.
Jerome Thrift Shop is open to the public twice a
month in the church hall. Clothing and small saleable items are donated
by parishioners and people in the community. Proceeds from sales
are used to provide a scholarship, holiday cards, gifts and Masses for
our shut-ins and donations to the operation of the church.

is also donated to other organizations including the Farrell Treatment
Center, Salvation Army, Friendship Center, St. Lucian's Home and Bundle
Up Connecticut (a winter coat drive).
New
members are always needed and welcome to join in our mission to help
both the church and the community. Please call the parish center,

to give a monetary donation.
Legion of
Mary, the oldest continual organization
in the Parish, is in it's thirty-night year. They meet each week,
fifty-two weeks a year. At present, they have ten active members and
seventy-two praying or auxiliary members. It is primarily through the
prayers of the auxiliary members that our Lady, Queen of Peace Praesidium
has endured and flourished for so many years.
The work each week consists of making
visits to the elderly and homebound, to welcome new parishioners, to make
condolence calls on the bereaved, to attend wakes and funerals and to make
follow-up calls for the Care Ministry. In addition to this work, the
rosary and patient visitation is conducted at three area convalescent
homes and Hospital for Special Care. All of this work is done for Jesus,
through Mary, His Mother. The Legion of Mary always works in pairs. Over
the years the work of the Legion has been done to assist the pastor and to
keep him updated on his parishioners. One of the primary rules of this
faith through action is confidentiality. Everything learned through their
visits or at the meeting is strictly confidential.
The Legion of Mary is always looking for
Catholics in good standing who are seeking ways to put their faith into
action.
